About Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
The Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a professional undergraduate degree program that integrates the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with modern medical knowledge.
Recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, this program prepares students to become skilled Ayurvedic physicians and healthcare practitioners.
The curriculum spans 5½ years (4½ years of academic study plus 1 year compulsory internship). It focuses on Ayurvedic principles, herbal medicine, Panchakarma therapy, preventive healthcare, and basic concepts of modern anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Ayurveda for the World, BAMS for Your FutureThrough a blend of classroom learning, practical training, clinical exposure, and mandatory internships, students gain a holistic understanding of health and wellness. This degree equips graduates with the knowledge and confidence to practice as Ayurvedic doctors, pursue higher studies, or build careers in research, wellness, and healthcare management, both in India and internationally.
